Webasto introduces new air heaters and a cloud-based diagnostic tool
Following the update of its compact water heaters, the heating and cooling specialist is now renewing and expanding its range of air heaters. The newly introduced "Webasto System Diagnostics" tool supports workshops and dealerships with diagnostics, maintenance, and software updates.
Stockdorf – October 26, 2026 – The new Air Top Pro 25 air heater combines rapid heating with quiet continuous operation, offering a wide heating capacity range: it can quickly bring vehicle interiors to the desired temperature with an output of up to 2.5 kilowatts (kW). At its lowest partial-load setting of 0.7 kW, it maintains a consistent temperature while operating exceptionally quietly—eliminating the need for frequent cycling on and off, thereby enhancing comfort.
The brushless motor design increases both the unit's service life and its efficiency compared to its predecessor, the Air Top 2000 STC. It is compatible with diesel, gasoline, and HVO fuels. Automatic altitude adjustment ensures reliable operation up to 5,500 meters. Installers can mount the unit either inside the vehicle or underneath the chassis. When combined with a boiler—also suitable for underfloor mounting—the system can additionally be used to heat water.
The Air Top Pro 25 can be controlled via various Webasto interfaces, including the ThermoConnect app. Vehicle-specific installation instructions are already available for the most common van models, with more to follow.
In electric vans, the heater—paired with a small fuel tank—provides reliable interior temperature control, making it ideal for applications like passenger transport, mobile workshops, or temperature-sensitive cargo transport. At the same time, the "Range Plus" system extends the range of the vehicle's traction battery by up to 35 percent.
Air Top Go 20: high quality on a budget
For cost-conscious users and vehicles with lower heating requirements, the new Air Top Go 20 air heater offers many of the features found in the Air Top Pro 25. The unit utilizes the same housing dimensions and motor concept, as well as the same Webasto control elements—including app support. Its heating output ranges from 1.0 to 2.0 kW in boost mode. The heater runs on either diesel or HVO fuel.
"We have developed and tested the Air Top Go 20 with great care," says Jörg Hornung, Vice President Aftermarket at Webasto. "It is important to us to offer a heater with proven Webasto quality, also for compact vehicles or custom conversions."
The air heater will be available starting in November and is also offered as a complete package, including a metering pump, a standard installation kit, a rotary control, and documentation.
Both heaters meet the requirements of ISO 26262 for functional safety and are developed and manufactured in Germany. Furthermore, they comply with the requirements of ISO 21434 for cybersecurity and are certified accordingly.
"Air Flow" PTC air heater for electric commercial vehicles
For electric commercial vehicles, electric heaters that draw power from the traction battery via an integrated voltage converter—known as an electrical Power Take Off (ePTO)—are an ideal solution. The modular Air Flow PTC air heater, which operates at 12 volts, provides up to 2,100 watts of heating capacity. The heating modules can be combined flexibly or installed and controlled individually within the vehicle interior.
Each module measures 200 x 155 x 150 millimeters (L x W x H) and delivers up to 700 watts of heating power. Pre-configured dual and triple-module systems can achieve outputs of up to 1,400 and 2,100 watts, respectively. Alternatively, individual modules can be placed in different locations throughout the vehicle; this simplifies installation in confined spaces and enables the creation of distinct temperature zones.
Heat is directed precisely where it is needed via air ducts, with various outlet options allowing for flexible airflow management. The heating output can be adjusted—either automatically or manually—across three levels to reach and maintain target temperatures quickly. A range of manual and digital control interfaces is available, with a Bluetooth-enabled app currently in development. Depending on the chosen control system, users can customize various heating programs and timer settings.
New diagnostic tool: video tutorials, cybersecurity, and online updates
With Webasto System Diagnostics, Webasto is introducing a new diagnostic system for its current and future water and air heaters. It assists workshops with installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting. It also documents the entire testing process and stores the results, even after the device has been disconnected from the heater. Video tutorials simplify troubleshooting, and software updates can be installed "over the air" once authorized by a technician.
The compact interface (80 x 50 x 20 mm) communicates via LIN or CAN and utilizes the new Webasto standard diagnostic connector.
Thanks to cloud connectivity, information and software versions remain up to date; at the same time, the system can operate for up to 30 days without an internet connection. Regarding cybersecurity, the system meets the requirements of the ISO 21434 standard.
Workshops can choose between a one-year license for 149 euros and a five-year license for 399 euros. The required hardware costs 249 euros. For the market launch—running from November 2026 to mid-2027—Webasto is offering a bundle consisting of the hardware and a five-year license for 499 euros. All prices are exclusive of VAT.
