Webasto manufactures exclusive soft top for the BRABUS 800 Convertible
Stockdorf – June 10, 2026 – Webasto, one of the top 100 automotive suppliers, has been commissioned with the development and production of the roof system for the new BRABUS 800 Convertible. The exclusive model from automotive refinement specialist BRABUS is based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 and is produced in a strictly limited small series. The nomination highlights Webasto’s particular expertise in complex convertible roof systems.
Complex soft-top design with more than 500 components
To transform the off-roader into a convertible, Webasto developed a highly specialized soft-top system comprising more than 500 individual parts and achieving exceptional torsional rigidity. Despite the demanding design, it was possible to integrate an unusually large rear window, ensuring strong everyday usability. The solution combines high-performance lightweight engineering with precise design standards and everyday practicality.
Technical highlights include a front bow made of carbon fiber for weight reduction and additional stiffness, as well as a two-part roof operated via a sophisticated kinematic system. A so-called “decorative roll bar” between the front and rear roof sections serves both as a safety element and a distinctive visual feature through its carbon cladding. The convertible roof is produced at Webasto’s plant in Velký Meder, Slovakia, within the “Masterpiece Manufacture.” This specialized unit focuses on exclusive, highly complex convertible roof systems in small production volumes. The model was unveiled in November 2025, and the first vehicles have already been delivered to customers.
“Being commissioned by BRABUS once again confirms what Webasto stands for: technical excellence, a hands-on mindset, and strong partnerships with leading players in the automotive industry,” says Joerg Buchheim, CEO of Webasto.
