Wuhan - The automotive capital of China
Wuhan is renowned as the "Automotive Capital of China" due to its robust industrial foundation and strategic geographical advantages. As the headquarters of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, it hosts major joint ventures such as Dongfeng Honda and Dongfeng Nissan, forming a core cluster of automobile manufacturing.
Our new Wuhan plant
Webasto has been manufacturing roofs for Chinese automobile manufacturers and joint ventures in Wuhan since 2014. On September 10, 2019, the preceding Chancellor Merkel has presented the opening ceremony and attended ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new plant is currently one of the Webasto Group’s largest production sites worldwide, mainly producing roofs as well as electric heating systems.

The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone integrates 7 vehicle manufacturers, 12 assembly plants, and over 500 auto parts suppliers, forming a complete industrial chain that covers R&D, production, and after-sales services. Its central location in China facilitates efficient logistics, while the Yangtze River inland port enhances transportation capabilities.

The First Zebra Plant in China Region
Under the trend of electrification of automobiles, Wuhan plant has become one of the world's two largest manufacturing bases for Webasto electric heaters together with Neubrandenburg in Germany since 2018. Electric heating systems are produced to support all customers in Asia.
