We Drive the Future – sustainably mobile into a good future!

The Webasto Foundation aims to move people – both literally and figuratively – by supporting projects that contribute to sustainable mobility as part of its charitable mission, thereby inspiring people, improving living conditions, building support for the future, and driving progress.

The Webasto Foundation is a non-profit limited liability company. Jointly supported by the owner families of the company and Webasto SE, the Webasto Foundation is – beyond the company´s boundaries – committed to sustainability in the dimensions: social, health & education, and environment & innovation. 

 

In doing so, the Webasto Foundation on the one hand focuses its international social commitment on the  Webasto core topic: mobility. On the other hand, the Webasto Foundation reflects values that are also important within the Webasto Group since its founding: responsibility & solidity on the one hand, future & further progress on the other.

Doing good together

Not only within Webasto special emphasis is placed on good and fair cooperation; the company also seeks to contribute to societal causes beyond its core business activities. The Webasto Foundation promotes the social, societal, and ecological commitment of the Webasto Group and its employees. In the family-owned company, participation is an important subject. This also applies to the Webasto Foundation: Colleagues worldwide have a say in deciding where the Webasto Foundation helps and can nominate projects themselves. According to its leitmotif "We Drive the Future – Sustainably mobile into a good future!" the Webasto Foundation is committed to four aspects:

For the Webasto Foundation, mobility means more than getting from A to B.  Against this background, it supports social projects that combine mobility with improved safety, wellbeing, and health for socially vulnerable people. The following examples represent a selection of the Webasto Foundation’s social engagement activities.

School on Wheels – Southern California/USA

School on Wheels is dedicated to providing children living in shelters, motels, vehicles, group homes or on the streets with access to education and, thereby, the chance for a better future. In 2022, the Webasto Foundation supported the program for an entire school year.

Women´s right to mobility – León/Mexico

In Mexico, the Webasto Foundation cooperated with its international partner, the YOU Stiftung. Over a period of 18 months starting in March 2022, around 50 women were provided with bicycles. Dedicated women's bicycle paths and trainings aimed to protecting women from violence and exploitation help improve mobility and safety in the long term.

„Kältebus“ – Project Germany

The Webasto Foundation supported the work of the Malteser Hilfsdienst. "Kältebusse" (cold buses) provide people experiencing homelessness and poverty in many German cities with warm meals, clothing and hygiene items. Conversations with volunteers also offer reassurance and a sense of security.

Mobility for all. TOMORROW.

Webasto is applying its innovative strength to the mobility of the future, for example in the area of electromobility. Against this backdrop, the Webasto Foundation cooperates, for instance, with universities and polytechnics that are involved in the development and implementation of sustainable mobility concepts and contribute to making mobility in urban areas more sustainable for the future.​

Cooperation with UNIST – Ulsan/South Korea

As part of a multi-year cooperation with the internationally renowned Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), the Webasto Foundation supported the implementation of selected academic theses in the field of forward-looking and sustainable mobility concepts from 2022 to 2025.

Mobilize strengths.

The health and safety of people are top priorities of Webasto. ​This is the context in which the Webasto Foundation supports organizations around the world that provide mobile assistance on the spot to people in need.​

Mobile health care – Pune/India

In India, the Webasto Foundation cooperated with the YOU Stiftung in 2022 to support a mobile outreach initiative. A 14 seat van now helps reach people in urban slums and inform them about basic health care and healthy nutrition, while facilitating access to essential health and food supply services.

Mobilize strengths.

Help for people in Ukraine

In cooperation with the humanitarian organization ADRA, the Webasto Foundation launched a temporary partnership in Liberec, Czech Republic, starting in 2022, to support people affected by the war in Ukraine. The assistance also included emergency aid and fundraising campaigns. In addition, employees volunteered independently of these efforts.

Move people.

Employees around the world actively shape the social engagement of the Webasto Foundation. Through initiatives such as Social Days and the Foundation Voting, colleagues can support charitable organizations in their local communities by volunteering their time or helping decide how available funds are allocated. This employee driven engagement strengthens social cohesion and encourages looking beyond day to day business to make a positive contribution to society.

Webasto Social Days

From 2024, the Webasto Foundation expanded the former "Social Week" into a global and flexible Social Days concept. The initiative aims to bring employees’ skills, energy and commitment to where support is most needed. During Social Days, employees are encouraged to volunteer with local charitable associations and organizations during working hours.

Employee donation voting

Up till now 15 charitable organizations focusing on social issues, health and education were supported near Webasto locations across Europe, Asia and the Americas through the Webasto Foundation donation voting.
