Webasto presents air conditioning
systems with environmentally friendly refrigerant

Just in time for the Caravan Salon 2025, Webasto, the expert for heating and cooling appliances, is presenting its rooftop air conditioning systems in all sizes with the climate-friendly refrigerant R32. The German company will be showcasing its thermal solutions at stand 13A60 in hall 13.

Double climate protection: The refrigerant R32 has a significantly lower GWP value than the R410A commonly used on the market to date. In addition, less R32 is needed to produce the same amount of cool air. Gilching – July 3, 2025 – There are few things better than the freedom and closeness to nature when camping. To protect the environment in the best possible way, Webasto attaches great importance to making its products as sustainable as possible. One contribution to this is the conversion of its Cool Top Trail rooftop air conditioning systems to the refrigerant R32. From September 2025, all sizes of the air conditioning unit will be available with the environmentally friendly gas named the "G series".

R32, also known as difluoromethane (CH₂F₂), is a modern refrigerant that offers various advantages over R410A, which has been standard on the market to date. For example, it has a lower global warming potential (GWP) of 675 compared to R410A with a GWP of 2,088. R32 is also more efficient: To produce the same amount of cool air, the new Cool Top Trail units require a smaller amount of R32 than units using the previous refrigerant R410A. Another advantage: the 20G, 24G and 28G versions are each 0.5 kilograms lighter than their predecessors. There is no difference in price between the conventional and the new G models.

Cool Top Trail is available in different versions with cooling capacities between 2.0 and 3.6 kilowatts for motorhomes, camper vans and caravans of up to ten meters in length. All Cool Top Trail systems also have a heat pump function as standard, which works even in cold outside temperatures of down to -5 degrees Celsius and provides heat in the vehicle interior. The powerful systems work in an operating temperature range of -5 to 50 degrees Celsius and always reliably ensure pleasant temperatures and low humidity. Thanks to their quiet operation and a special sleep function, even the night's rest remains undisturbed – to the delight of campers and their neighbors.
