METS 2016: Webasto Provides Feel-Good Climate Aboard

Presentation of the New BlueCool Air-Conditioning Products

Stockdorf/Munich – November 9, 2016 – The weather isn’t pretty. At barely 11 degrees Celsius, it’s cold and the skies are cloudy with heavy drizzle, made worse by strong squalls. The next day, just a few nautical miles away, the skies smile, the weather presents its best face: bright sunshine and close to 30 degrees Celsius. Every boat owner is familiar with the capricious nature of the weather. To ensure that there’s perfect on-board climate at all times, Webasto has combined heating and cooling systems to perfectly coordinated, intelligent, complete climate solutions. What’s more, the high-quality Webasto roof systems provide for light and fresh air. With its many versatile solutions, climate specialist Webasto provides for maximum feel-good climate aboard – both on hot and cool days. The company will be at the METS 2016 in Amsterdam, from November 15 to 17, 2016, in hall 12 at booth 603 / 703, where it will be showcasing its comprehensive product portfolio for boats and yachts. Among the highlights Webasto exhibits the new BlueCool A-Series range of air handlers, the new color touch-screen BlueCool MyTouch control unit as well as the newly developed electrical sliding hatch, Webasto BlueSky.

New BlueCool A-Series range of air handlers
One of the highlights that Webasto is presenting for the first time exclusively at the METS is the new BlueCool A-Series air handlers. The three construction forms of the A-Series – Compact, Slimline and Low Profile – are distinguished by their especially compact, slim and flat design. One of the main innovations brought by the BlueCool A-Series: the Webasto Instant Drain Condensate Management System. It prevents any condensate water to stay within the system’s condensate tray and therefore from sloshing over when the boat heels or makes abrupt maneuvers, which could cause some of the wood fittings and framework to get wet and incur long-term damage.

With the optional electrical heat module (EHM), BlueCool A series enables customers to simultaneously heat or cool individual cabins independently of each other specifically, so as to achieve the ideal feel-good climate for each and every one. The air handlers can be expanded by the new 230V in-line tubular heating element, which can be installed in the air channel. Thereby, they supplement the climate control system with an additional heating source that is independent of the chiller’s cold water circuit thanks to bypass valves. The new air handlers are suitable for operation in combination with Webasto chiller systems. The cooling capacities of the A-Series range from 4,000 to 36,000 BTU/h.

Intuitive operation via the BlueCool MyTouch display
The BlueCool My Touch control unit with the color touchscreen sets a new industry standard. The intuitive operation that uses simple symbols and a clearly organized control menu in ten languages guarantees a highly user-friendly experience. Users can select one of three digital designs for the operating menu and if desired, also upload their own logo or photograph as the standby image. What’s more, the display also comes with a series of new features such as a timer, messages with full text descriptions, display of operating values and configuration of the standby display. Visually speaking, the control unit is also impressive for the elegant design of the cover frame in a variety of colors. The BlueCool My Touch control unit is now a standard component of all Webasto BlueCool air-conditioning systems.

Webasto BlueSky opens up new horizons in the Marine segment
For these new products, as it does for all other products in the Marine segment, Webasto utilizes its longtime knowhow in the automotive industry and applies its high standards in terms of quality and safety. That also applies to the Webasto BlueSky electric sliding hatch, the latest product of the well-known Webasto marine roof family. The electrical sliding hatch provides for fresh air below deck and even when it is in the closed position, allows for a clear, unobstructed view of the sky while letting a lot of natural light into the interior space. The Webasto BlueSky sliding hatch is absolutely watertight and upon opening, can be conveniently stopped in any position. What’s more, the formation of condensation on the inner surface is now a thing of the past, as it is prevented by a thermal insulation. Webasto BlueSky consists of two acrylic shells and can be integrated in boats up to nine meters long. Installation is simple and is executed on the bridge deck or in the canopy.
