| Aerosphere Midibus: a great climate for small coaches |
 |
• Webasto extends the Aerosphere World family • Extraordinary flexibility in all midibus classes
Stockdorf/Munich. – The Aerosphere Midibus: Webasto’s new air conditioning system for buses brings the benefits of the Aerosphere World to smaller vehicle classes. With a performance spectrum of 19 kW to 25 kW, the system has been developed to meet all the requirements of large international bus manufacturers.
The Aerosphere Midibus is designed for a wide range of bus platforms, up to and including the 12-metre city bus, depending on the cooling capacity requirement. It can also be fitted on various roof widths and radiuses. The Aerosphere Midibus is 2.3 m long, 1.84 m to 2.2 m wide, and the 18 kW version weighs around 135 kg. It owes its enormous flexibility above all to the modular construction already seen in the Aerosphere World.
The system has undergone extensive and rigorous testing right from the development stage, including simulation of extreme conditions to ensure that bus customers receive proven and reliable climate technology in all regions of the world. The systems were tested in the Webasto climate chamber using sophisticated testing procedures, and also underwent vibration tests to simulate poor road conditions.
Development focused on improving serviceability and optimising life cycle costs. As a result, the air conditioner’s air filter has a longer service life and can also be fitted with electrically commutated fans. This is a strong economic argument in its favour from the bus companies’ point of view.
The modular construction of this new generation of air conditioners will also enable Webasto to gain a foothold in important international air conditioning markets.
