Stockdorf/Munich. – Aerosphere World – the name says it all: this is the umbrella under which Webasto is presenting a new generation of air conditioning systems for buses, designed to be used in many different climatic conditions and on all bus platforms – worldwide. The Webasto Aerosphere World has a performance spectrum of 32 to 39 KW (maximum refrigerating capacity).
Its applications range from 12-metre solo buses to 18-metre articulated buses. It has undergone extensive and rigorous testing right from the development stage, including simulation of extreme conditions to ensure that bus customers receive proven and reliable climate technology in all regions of the world. The systems were tested in the Webasto climate chamber using the latest procedures, and also underwent vibration tests to simulate poor road conditions.
Development focused on improving serviceability and optimising life cycle costs. As a result, the air conditioner’s air filter has a longer service life and can also be fitted with electrically commutated fans. This is a strong economic argument in its favour from the bus companies’ point of view. Another novelty is that the bus air conditioning system will initially be produced at two different production sites simultaneously (France and Turkey), to bring the production process as close as possible to customers and support their platform strategies. A third “supporting pillar” in Brazil is already in the planning stages. Quite a challenge for Webasto’s production managers, as the high quality standards that they impose on themselves must of course also be fulfilled to the same degree at every site everywhere in the world.
The modular construction of this new generation of air conditioners will also enable Webasto to gain a foothold in important international air conditioning markets.
