| Webasto CC 170/230/300/350 – robust design tailor-made for tropical climates |

| Stockdorf/Munich. Even in this part of the world, travelling on a bus can get unbearably hot for both driver and passengers. Webasto has been developing air conditioning systems for buses for over 25 years, increasing both comfort and safety. As an international company, Webasto develops individual, tailored air conditioning solutions for all bus types, from city buses to luxury coaches.
Tropical countries place particular demands on bus air conditioning systems. The design has to take into account both extremely high temperatures and high humidity. And because the roads are often poorly built, the mechanical wear and tear caused by jolts and dust is greater than in Europe.
Webasto has developed a series of robust rooftop air conditioners for this special area: the Webasto CC 170/230/300/350.
The Webasto CC 170 rooftop air conditioning system has been specially developed for this purpose, with performance characteristics and a range of equipment options that enable it to be used anywhere in the world. With a refrigeration capacity of up to 16 kW, combined with a high air flow rate of up to 4,200 m3/h, it keeps the temperature inside the vehicle at a comfortable level.
The rooftop air conditioning unit is only 179 mm high and can be retrofitted or built in on the assembly line by bus manufacturers. Thanks to its innovative lightweight construction, it only weighs about 120 kg. As an option, the rooftop air conditioning unit can be fitted with a fresh-air flap and fresh-air filter, providing a fresh air to air conditioned air ratio of around 30/70%. And at only 1840 mm wide, the unit requires no additional transfer ports to be installed when adapting it to the vehicle. The CC 170 blows into the existing air ducts directly from above. If required, the unit can also be fitted with heat exchangers, yielding a heating capacity of up to 20 kW.
The Webasto CC 170 is designed for bus roofs with a radius of 5500 to 18000 mm, which means it fits most popular midibus roofs. It is operated either automatically by digital control or with a standard room thermostat.
The high refrigeration capacity of 23/30/33 kW in the 230/300/350 models, combined with the high air flow rate of up to 6,000 m3/h keeps the temperature at a comfortable level and reliably dehumidifies the air inside – in short, these models create the perfect climate. All components are designed for the extreme conditions encountered in very hot countries and the tropics. The low rooftop air conditioning unit is only 212 mm high and can be retrofitted or built in on the assembly line by bus manufacturers. Also low is its weight, thanks to a lightweight construction. The rooftop air conditioning unit does not have to be mounted in the direction of travel, which allows vehicle manufacturers to adjust the weight distribution to suit their own requirements. Fresh-air filters can also be used to improve the air quality. The rooftop air conditioning unit is available in two different widths, 1360 mm and 1850 mm.
The XL version of the CC family can be easily fitted without the need to install additional transfer ports in the vehicle. As an option, the rooftop units can also be fitted with a fresh-air flap to enable mixed-air operation. Another option is heat exchangers, which produce a heating capacity of around 40 kW. The modular construction of the control concept allows you to choose between several modes of operation – from a mechanical room thermostat, through semi-automatic to fully automatic control of the Webasto CC air conditioning system.
