| Stockdorf/Munich. – Short heat-up times and quiet reliable operation are fundamental requirements of heaters for commercial vehicles, boats, vans, motor homes or special vehicles. The Webasto Air Top family of air heaters meets these requirements and more: almost silent running, high heating output and low power consumption are standard features of the Webasto Air Top 2000 ST, Air Top 3500 ST and Air Top 5000 ST. As an option, the units can also be used to provide continuously variable aeration and ventilation in summer.
With power outputs of 2 kW, 3.5 kW and 5 kW, the fuel-burning Air Top heaters provide a "tailored" choice of units for individual applications depending on vehicle size and insulation. The Air Top 5000 is the ultimate unit offering up to 5.5 kW maximum power in the automatically operating booster stage.
Almost silent operation with smooth output adjustment
The Air Top 2000 ST, the smallest of the air heaters, sets the standards for operating noise. Even the more powerful Air Top 3500 and Air Top 5000 operate at very low and pleasant levels due to optimised guidance of the intake air - even at full load. All the heaters have a stepless control system ensuring smooth adjustment when the set temperature is reached without any additional noises, eliminating particularly intrusive sudden changes in operating noise.
Reliable patented burner technology
Sophisticated ceramic technology in the glow plug and the tungsten filament ensures reduced power consumption during starting and maximum reliability, because after the preheat phase the tungsten filament in the 3500/5000 models operates as a flame monitor which tells the control module when starting is successful and the flame is burning in a controlled manner.
The Webasto Air Top air heaters are operated by means of a control unit in the instrument panel. An optional multi-function clock allows the driver to pre-select different operating times and temperatures up to seven days in advance.
Designed with the workshop and diagnostics in mind
All the new generation Webasto Air Top air heaters can be diagnosed by PC in the workshop. Corresponding Webasto software allows technicians to read out and rectify faults. And the flexibility of the compact units with an integral controller, a choice of running on 12V or 24V, operating capability in different attitudes and watertight connectors assist with installation. Uniform location of retaining holes throughout the Air Top family makes work easier and ensures that changing to another Air Top unit is no problem.
The technological sophistication of the Webasto air heaters is also demonstrated by a particular feature: the diesel-operated Air Top 2000 S, Air Top 3500 and Air Top 5000 meet the statutory safety requirements for heaters in vehicles used to convey hazardous goods without any additional expense. The ADR function is activated simply with a coding plug.
