METS 2011: Webasto presents innovations in the boat world

11/15/2011
Elegant, comfortable and energy-friendly cruising on the high seas.

Stockdorf/Munich – Webasto and the Indel Webasto Marine joint venture will present numerous new products at METS, the world’s biggest trade show for boats and marine equipment. Among other things, visitors will find high-quality electrical sliding roofs, windows and hatches, energy-saving and environmentally friendly refrigeration systems as well as coolers for multiple purposes. Webasto will be present in hall 11, stands 603 and 703 at the trade fair, which takes place November 15 to 17, 2011 in Amsterdam.

Denis Merle, Director of the Marine and Recreational Vehicles segment and president of Indel Webasto Marine, says “Each year, the METS show in Amsterdam is the most important meeting of the marine industry. Therefore, we look forward to being present with several exciting new products. At sea, comfort is as important as space- and energy-saving functions. Additionally, all solutions have to withstand the harsh conditions at sea. We are continuously extending our product portfolio to enhance comfort on board – from a single source.”

More light and fresh air: custom-fit high-quality windows and roof systems
For the first time, Webasto is presenting its robust, waterproof and stylish windows for boats and yachts. The product portfolio includes windows of all kinds: sliding and tilting windows as well as fixed ones. These can be adapted to the individual requirements and designs of the manufacturer, and therefore can be integrated into the construction concept of the boat. To meet the harsh conditions at sea, the frames are made of high-quality, rust-free aluminum. The windows are available with 6 or 16 millimeter gray, green or clear safety glass. The 16 millimeter version features a gas layer between two window panes for perfect insulation.

In addition to windows, Webasto is expanding its range of products for roof systems. With the new Marine Roof 20 series, Webasto provides more light and fresh air on board. The window, whose 8 millimeter thick safety glass pane can be slid or tilted open, has an opening of 80x80 centimeters and is especially easy to install. Like all marine roofs from Webasto, the new solution is especially robust and can be closed so that it is absolutely waterproof.

Since both solutions are subjected to the influences of wind, water, salt and sunlight, the windows are intensively tested for their robustness. Webasto thus benefits from its first-class expertise in the area of roof solutions for boats and automobiles.

Saving energy with refrigerators and coolers: Isotherm Smart Energy Control
Especially during cruises in warmer regions, a refrigerator or cooler is essential to keep food and drinks fresh. Until now, the crew was challenged by the fact that power for electrical devices was in short supply on board. With Isotherm Smart Energy Control, Indel Webasto Marine presents a milestone in energy saving solutions for refrigeration appliances. The kit consists of a processor-based module, a specially adapted temperature sensor and a potentiometer, and can easily be upgraded to all existing Isotherm refrigeration products. Significant energy savings are achieved using an intelligent processor that increases the energy efficiency of the refrigerators. This means that the cooling energy is preferably supplied when there is an energy surplus, i.e. when the engine is running or if the boat is connected to the power grid.

High degree of comfort with high-quality fridges
With the introduction of the CRUISE Elegance line, Indel Webasto Marine is celebrating a further product premiere on the trade show. CRUISE Elegance marine refrigerators are available in four sizes, from 49 up to 130 liters capacity. They win people over with their infinite design possibilities since the door panels can be adapted according to the customer’s desires. Customers can choose from a wide range of glossy colors, fine wood designs, or a metallic or carbon look. The result: a harmoniously coordinated design of the boat interior. In total, more than 300 options are available. All CRUISE Elegance fridges are ready for operation with Isotherm Smart Energy Control and feature a simple installation system as well as a ventilation system to prevent mold formation when the refrigerator is shut down over long periods.

A reliable partner in all circumstances: the new cooler line
The high-quality cooler range consists of solutions with a volume of 30 to 55 liters and is especially well insulated to ensure low energy consumption for cooling. A special Eco function also increases energy savings. Furthermore, the product family includes models that have been developed especially for tropical conditions in order to ensure the optimum storage of food and drinks even at high temperatures and humidities. All models are easy to install and are equipped with comfortable, ergonomically shaped handles for transport.
